One of the spokesperson of Microsoft on has confirmed to The Verge that “the company is no longer manufacturing Nokia Lumia 2520; however, those who still want to buy Nokia Lumia 2520 can visit Microsoft Retail Stores,MicrosoftStore.com, third-party retailers and resellers for the latest availability.” This confirmation came just after a week of Microsoft stopping production of Surface 2, another Windows RT powered tablet. Slowing tablet sales have affected all the major manufacturers like Lenovo, Asus, Samsung, and Dell after some boom in 2014. Even Apple hasnt been able to shrug off the lack of customer interest in its iPads. However Microsoft’s tablets faced a different problem altogether. The main reason for Microsoft’s tablet sales slump is the lack of touch-based apps for Windows RT, a rather confusing and un-user friendly desktop mode, and the odd ball name” Windows RT” for the OS in the time when tech giants are using intuitive names like Yosemite and Lollipop for their OS versions. Microsoft’s hopes now rest on its forthcoming and hopefully bestseller Windows 10.  Microsoft has claimed that the Windows 10 OS will be uniform across all platforms so users wont feel uncomfortable with using different Windows version on desktop and smartphones. all hope is with Windows 10. Microsoft has already announced that it will give free Windows 10 upgrade to existing Windows 7/8 users for a period of 1 year. Microsoft has already shown some features of Windows 10 for phones, but has not given any indication of Windows 10 support for ARM based tablets.  Since one its product Surface 2 is as good as dead and Surface Pro 3 sales are increasing day by day it remains to be seen whether it will come powered with Windows 10 in not so distant future. But as of now Windows RT has been designated to being a relic in the OS gallery.
